Masonry Arch Centering

Masonry Arch Centering
The above photo is an unkown bridge being built somewhere in eastern Connecticut around 1900. The arch shaped wooden form, or centering, was used to support the stone arch as it was built towards the center and its postion became increasingly horizontal. Once the arch and spandrels were complete the centering would be removed.
