Grand Avenue Bridge, camera facing southeast. This now abandoned space was once used as storage for track maintenance materials. Unlike the other pier (and the piers on similar bridges along this alignment), the large, hollow peir has its own structural system and is not just a mass of solid material that simply anchors the arches; concrete-encased steel beans carry the roadway over this storage space.
